Designed in collaboration with Y.A. studio, the joint development between the Chinatown Community Development Center (CCDC) and the Tenderloin Neighborhood Development Corporation (TNDC) marks OMA’s first 100% affordable housing project in the United States.

San Francisco, CA, USA – Construction has begun on 730 Stanyan in the historic Haight Ashbury neighborhood of San Francisco. Once completed, the 8-story building will add approximately 194,000square-feet of 160 deeply affordable homes and amenities for people with low incomes in San Francisco, including families, formerly unhoused families, and Transitional Age Youth (TAY).

OMA and San Francisco-based Y.A. studio designed a building reflective of the diverse communities and eclectic urban environment and the ambition to provide high-quality living environments. An initial massing maximizing residential density and addressing the existing neighborhood datum and scale is carved to generate pockets of open spaces for residential and commercial tenants, a move that creates many corner units that bring in light to units and establish views to the Golden Gate Park from common areas.

On the ground floor, 730 Stanyan will provide a new community hub for the neighborhood. As an extension of the Haight Street retail corridor, the ground-floor will incorporate commercial areas that will service the residents of the building and the surrounding neighborhoods.
